Frequently Asked Questions
Delivery
U.S. delivery within the lower 48 states is at no cost. Delivery to other locations may require additional fees, based upon where you are. If you want something sent as a gift to someone else, please explain that in the comments when you’re completing your order form. I’ll email you to make sure I get it right. Please note: For International shipments, BUYER is responsible for any VAT,JCT, GST, SST, QST or customs duty fees. I will do my best in an ever changing world to pre-calculate these expenses, but an invoice will be sent for additional fees incurred after transaction.

Returns

Unfortunately, returns are not accepted. These are handmade items that are unique. However, if a product fails (wood moves…it really does) and comes apart or breaks, contact me and I’ll see what I can do. I want you to be satisfied with your purchase.
Will my product look like the picture?
In short…maybe. Wood, even from the same tree, can look quite different, based upon all kinds of factors (knots, sap, the way the wood was sawn or milled, etc.). If you choose a custom project based upon a picture, it should be pretty close, but won’t be a perfect match. If you choose an item in stock, it should be a nearly exact match to the image (with exceptions for lighting, etc.). Our items are hand crafted from only the finest select domestic and exotic hardwoods from around the world. We use only sustainable non-endangered hardwoods. All handcrafted items are completely food safe after a 30-day cure. We don’t stain our products, all wood is in its natural state of color. Wood is also a product of nature. No two pieces are the same. Grain and Color can vary slightly from my pictures. All Measurements are approximate and can also vary slightly.

Why will it only let me buy one item?

Because I only have one! I make these one at a time, by hand. As I’ve said elsewhere, this is a side gig for me. I love it and want to continue to improve over time, but I really don’t want someone to order a bunch of items at once…I don’t want this to be a big business with time pressures…it’s fun for me! Basically, I’m only charging to pay for the wood and shipping (and a little profit after paying taxes)!
What hardware is included?
Charcuterie boards and Serving Trays have non-slip rubber feet installed with stainless screws and washers to prevent rusting. The feet help provide a safer more secure working area.
Chess boards come with a detachable turntable, enabling it to rotate if you wish. It also comes with rubber feet, if you’d rather it was stationary.
Lazy Susans come with an attached turntable, enabling it to rotate.

How do I clean these things?

For routine cleaning, wipe with a cloth or duster. For spills, wipe with a damp cloth, rinse and dry…please do not immerse in water or place in a dishwasher.
How come the finishes look different on Charcuterie Boards?
All projects are finished with 4 coats of clear lacquer. After a curing process of a few weeks this provides a hard shell that is protective. Charcuterie boards are finished with clear Mineral Oil. This is because food may be placed directly on the wood (sliced cheese, etc.). In this case, Mineral Oil provides a “food safe” surface, although it requires some reconditioning occasionally with more Mineral Oil rubbed in (perhaps 2-3 times per year). Lacquer is food safe when cured, but if slices are made in it (slicing salami) it could results in tiny chips of lacquer being stuck to your food and ingested. It won’t hurt you, but Mineral Oil won’t do that.
